Not every sale deserves the whole homepage. This year-end sale banner is a 3:1 strip that sits politely between sections: a warm paper band, a ghosted ticker of sale terms drifting behind, a white offer card, a product cutout, and one tangerine "Shop the sale" pill. Built for the fictional outdoor apparel brand Marlow Supply, the card glides from left to center to right across three panes - "Up to 50% off everything", "Free shipping over $75", "Ends Sunday" - while an orange puffer jacket, leather hiking boots, and a forest green quarter-zip rotate through the open space.
The mechanic is the glide. The white rounded card is one block that changes position on every pane, and the 800ms transition is intentionally long so the card visibly travels rather than cuts. Each position reveals a different product on the opposite side and a different message inside the card, so three panes feel like one continuous gesture instead of three banners. On the final pane the pill tucks left of the card, and when the loop wraps the card slides home to the left edge - the seam reads as motion, not a restart.
Behind the card, the marquee does the quiet work. "YEAR-END SALE · UP TO 50% OFF · FREE SHIPPING OVER $75 · ENDS SUNDAY" runs across the whole band in Archivo Black at 12% opacity, so the full offer is always present even when the card is showing only the shipping message. It is the single looping animation, and it never competes with the card because it is closer to texture than text.
Typography and color stay retail-clear. Archivo Black sets "Free shipping" and "Ends Sunday" in deep forest green, Inter Tight renders the tangerine "50%" at display size with a number-roll entrance, Inter handles the "Up to" and "off everything" lines, and Space Mono appears on the "MARLOW SUPPLY" chip and the outlined "NO CODE NEEDED" and "WHILE STOCKS LAST" tags. Tangerine is used only twice - the discount and the CTA - which is why both are the first things the eye finds.
Export to HTML or React and place the band between your hero and your bestsellers grid. The hero keeps its evergreen job, and the sale gets its own lane. When the sale ends, removing one component returns the page to normal.
Publish the project as a hosted link and embed it with the platform's embed or custom code element. The band keeps its 3:1 aspect as the container resizes, the marquee keeps drifting, and the pill can carry a URL click action to your sale collection.
Drop the band above the footer or between long-form article sections where a full hero would feel like an ad takeover. Because the ticker always carries the full terms, even a reader who glances once gets the discount, the shipping threshold, and the deadline.
